MEMORIAL DAY<\/p>\n

These Memorial Days become more precious to us
\n As we grow older\u2026
\n We remember the crosses at Arnhem
\n Our steadfast determination, our struggles
\n And although the years go by, nothing can shroud
\n Those difficult but oh so meaningful days,
\n Intensely filled with hope, keen on retaliation,
\n While our hearts sheltered a vital warmth
\n The smile of sincere soldierly love
\n That shone like gold, like a bright sword
\n Radiantly on our beloved Brigade.<\/p>\n

The evil spirit of the \u2018sinister lights\u2019 could not reach us
\n Amid such gleaming radiance,
\n And no evil could rob us of our
\n Pure deeds, because we soldiers
\n Had put our lives on the line
\n Not declaiming deeds of great valour
\n But while jumping to the flood plains at Arnhem
\n We saw below us the broad meadows of
\n Our fatherland. In the blasts of the battle
\n We hoped to find the way home.<\/p>\n

Let us today raise our sparkling glasses
\n So they can shine on our Memorial Day,
\n Let us observe a minute\u2019s silence in honour of the man
\n Who proudly bore the visor,
\n Who met with adversity rather than praise
\n Let us turn our hearts to our general,
\n And place whispers of winged thoughts
\n Upon his grave \u2013 flowers of gratitude! <\/p>\n

Brothers! \u2013 Memorial Day. As we age
\n We dream of a series of Memorial Days to come!<\/p>\n
