The Battle of Arnhem<\/h3>\n

September 1944<\/strong>
\nI wasn\u2019t there
\nI didn\u2019t see the sky above Arnhem,
\ndarkened with spots of parachutes.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t know the soldiers
\nwho carried hope for victory,
\nwish for freedom.<\/p>\n

The hopes they carried
\npopped like bubbles when they touched the ground.
\nMillions of sparks shot high up.<\/p>\n

September 2016<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m here
\nI look up at the sky above my city,
\nglittering with doves\u2019 wings.<\/p>\n

I know the birds;
\neach of them carries peace guarantee
\neach of them is a sparkle from Arnhem.<\/p>\n
